I spent an "exciting" evening working on my new Kings of War trays. Once the glue had set I used the airbrush to give them two coats of primer.
From there they had a brush topcoat of Chaos Black.
I'm tossing up whether to gloss varnish them (or perhaps) Satin and still considering whether to line them with steel paper.

Why would you not line them with the steel paper? Non-magnetic bases will still work. Or is it that the steel paper makes the tray shallower?
