A couple of weeks ago Citadel released an updated set of brushes for the hobby.
After Hagen Kerr waxed lyrical about them on the weekend I popped into my Hobby Centre and bought a Medium Base brush. Now I don't know whether Hagen has actually used one of just drinking the GW Kool-Aid but apparently "this medium brush, ideal for basecoating features a flat shape with a curved top, entirely synthetic bristles for extended durability".
The thing that struck me first about the brush is the price. NZD $15 for a synthetic brush is not a small outlay. It puts the cost at what I can get a good sable brush for via the net.
So I intend using this brush over the next thirty days to see how fit for purpose it is. I'll let you know how I get on.
As long as it's a controlled experiment where you are treating it the same as your sable brushes!

ReplyDeleteHagen - can you refrain from pushing the "submit" button multiple times when posting a comment. I know you are excited and need your opinion to be heard (ref your recent comment "Your Face"). However it is a lot more functional to post your comment only once (and indeed it makes you look a lot less technically inept).
ReplyDeleteStrangely it seems to be a problem limited only to you so I'm guessing you must have a dud browser.
My phone is made of carbon.
DeleteSo if you lost your phone... and someone found it... they would likely attempt to carbon date it to determine it's age?
DeleteI looked at them and decided too pricey - not that I am a big buyer of high end brushes anyway.
ReplyDeleteI know that there is no point bitching on price - but at $15 I'm expecting great things.....and ultimately disappointment.
ReplyDeleteJust like a normal sporting weekend
I have become a fan of other brand synthetic brushes, they are really great at getting a perfectly smooth finish on a surface. Haven't tried these GW ones yet tho.
