Dole Queue for the Daemonic BSB?

With the change to Daemon stability rules to bring them in line with Undead and no specific -1 wound due to presence of BSB, the role of the BSB in a Daemonic Legions of Chaos is greatly diminished.

Unless there is a specific banner you want and it is more expensive than the unit magic banner allowance or you're taking multiple units wanting banners.....he seems a bit redundant.

I'm expecting to see a few of them down at the Khandallah WINZ office.

    1. So am I, won't it encourage poor people to go there?

Think of the impact on property values!

    2. We had a beggar once....I gave him some cake

    3. Ah, that's reassuring to hear, otherwise that would have left the beggar with death as his only other option . . . unless you also had some chicken suspecting there was going to be a rush on the cakes.

  2. Seriously though, a WoC BSB would be superior anyway I'd have thought, with his T5, 3W, 1+ armour and 3+ ward save.

    1. Point is...in a Daemon list, BSB serves no point

    2. OK, I hadn't thought people might want to be fluffy with a Chaos Legions list, rather than take a hyper-efficient, blood sport approach.

If someone were to take a pure Daemons list, then I guess a BSB does lose a lot of utility. What leadership tests do you take? Swift Reform, combat reforms if you lose, some spell effects..... Is it worth 25 points to get those within a 12" bubble?

    3. If you're taking a pure daemons list it already has this fancy thing called the Daemons of Chaos armybook...complete with Daemonic instability and stuff that makes the BSB really useful. :P

Legions of Chaos has 2 modes....super fluffy "ZOMG I can finally take my Slaanesh gors (sexy goats) with daemonettes and a slaughter brute - my favourite monster in all of warhammer next to my 2 Slaanesh giants"...or OTT super powered broken beyond redemption. The 1st requires a special sort of person...the 2nd results in many sleepless nights for those poor WoC players as they try to convince themselves that they only added 2 skillcannons to their army because of the fluff and also because they have always really loved the model.

    4. Whereas KFC is the model of balance😄

    5. I tend to wrap KFC up in the "broken beyond redemption" category. There is no reason something has to be THAT powerful...other than to battle other things of similar power...ie the other big new distraction kits.

    6. Mmmm, sexy goats.....

KFC is funny though, because they're really taken that combined profile thing to absurd lengths. He'd be more palatable if Ghal Maraz only applied to Karl Franz's attacks, but it's obvious that the Griffon uses it too. The thought of Karl and Deathclaw passing the hammer back and forth between each other is amusing, albeit tainted by despair at yet another example of GW writers knowing sod-all about their own game.

  3. If you are just playing. Straight daemons list wouldn't you just be using rules from their armybook?

  4. Not in an "End Times" game Psyche ;) - I mean why would you?

I'm actually leaning currently to leaving a BSB out of my Daemon lists even under "standard" rules. I'm actually finding it gets used so very rarely. and those 25 pts are so useful elsewhere. The only purpose it really has been serving is in regards to fortitude.
