Glad i dont plan on playing any more ETC games, although they have completely ignored the combat side of the army which is interesting
ReplyDeleteHow does this comp trouble you Rex? Or is it all comp? What would you like to see in place, or do you feel Woodelves don't require community balancing?
ReplyDeleteThe standard list i play wouldn't be affected by this as this comp only addresses ranged and magic related issues. But i know there are WE players out their who would be effected by this and i emphasize with them. Whilst i will stand by the new book i don't think that any of the restrictions are necessary because they trying to restrict an army that doesn't do over powered, or things similar to it. At the end of the day no matter the offensive power of WE army the list is still made up of toughness 3 Armour-phobic elves, which are perhaps the easiest things to kill in WHFB. So to answer your question no i dont think WE need community balacing
DeleteI feel the same way about WoC, at the end of the day I only have 8 models in my army and mistakes are less forgiving :( No-one plays WoC anymore though, so at least it'll be interesting!
DeleteNo addressing the enchanted arrow duplications issue then?
ReplyDeleteThat's in the FAQ (yes can duplicate). Comp is basically saying "dont try to make a suedo brolock army that combos death snipe with sniping characters"
DeleteWhat's more interesting is the complete lack of comp on core ambushinh fast calv. You could do an army of 60 Gladeriders with poison (12x5 = 1320pts) and simply hide all game and pick points...obviously no one has the models for this! Add in some scouts, characters and other non-comped mobile choices (warhawks, eagles etc) = avoidance army par excellance..that noone owns.

^sounds fun... makes me almost want to sell one of my other armies to get more GR etc. :D
Deleteid prolly go with a lvl 4 ward, lore of death on eagle, 2x waystalkers one with bow of loren, 1 naked glade cpt on horse with hail of doom (delete chaff unit / finish off annoying archer unit), 4x10 glade riders with poison, 10 scouts with true flight (chaff removal), 10 scouts with starfire or moonfire (regeneration removal), bunch of warhawks, possibly sisters for more poison and channel + curse, and 2 eagle... don't have a book with me atm so can't check exact numbers... but kinda wanna try that now
Really WE is awsome and always been what i belive. They have the wardancer + moonstone + shadowdancer combo still. The arrows is just a part of woodelves, you should not go for an all clc army or an all shooting army. I use to have 10x3 gladeguards, 1x5 glade riders 1x9 wild riders 3xtreeman and 12xdryads, 1xtreeman and 13 wardancers. Along with shadowdancer, lvl 2 heaven (now high magic?) and lvl 4 life. The general rides with wildriders, have helm of hunt and dawnspear (now deathreaper). To sum this up this army takes on most things, will always hit hard on flank and discurage enemy with treethings in the middle and bowmen retreating slowley while punging the enemy with fire. As i use to play this army using the old WErules + etc, now i must say... looking at the new WE book and seeing this ETC... Almost everything i use in this army have gone down in points. Some tree-nerthing, but the elves has not been much changed exept they have becomed a little better in equipment and armory. I look forward to use this army on this conditions :D
